I like this comic so much because it gives you a chance to learn a lot about Rosa Parks. It tells you about her life from beginning to end and even shows some real life black and white pictures!

Always the Baker Finally the Bride

The 4th and final book in the series--this book is a good way to end the series as it brings the series full circle from the first book, which talks about Emma's engagement, and now discusses her wedding and marriage. I enjoyed the entire series and only wish it continued on for a few more books. I read the books in order and they do build on one another (person from book 1 is married in book 2, person introduced in book 2 is a more prominent character in book 3, etc) but one could read the books out of order and get just as much enjoyment from the individual books.

Dakota Series: Dakota Dawn, Dakota Dream, Dakota Dusk, Dakota December, Dakota Destiny

Good, light reading that leaves you with a warm heart and happy feelings. The books take place in North Dakota. People in each book are discussed in other books; best to read in order but still good if read out of order. Another fine selection from Lauraine Snelling.

This Hallowed Ground
by Bruce Catton

Bruce Catton's trilogy about the Army of the Potomac (Mr. Lincoln's Army, Glory Road, This Hallowed Ground) was a magnificent undertaking. The third volume won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize, but the awards were for the series. Catton's research was impressive, his writing was superb, and his ability to blend individual stories within a coherent general account is unsurpassed. The last year of the Civil War turned hard and ugly even compared to the first three years. The Battle of the Wilderness, stunningly portrayed, followed a doomed cavalry raid on Richmond, and set the tone for the year to come. It wouldn't be until Appomattox that a touch of grace appeared. Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan propelled the Union effort, and their characters are well described.

Where The Dead Sit Talking
by Brandon Hobson

A very short, very heavy novel. It confronts colossally abstract issues in a concrete, stream-of-consciousness prose form that is equal parts introspection and a call to compassion for others' life experiences.

3rd in a series and another amazing book. Enjoyed the book as it was one I couldn't put down once I started it. Well-written, good humor, set in modern times...definitely recommend it!
