I loved this book because he was able to put Norse Mythology in his writing which I think is cool. He was also able to make me feel like I was actually in the story. I love his writings they are great. I think if you like this book then you should read Persy Jackson.

This was perhaps not the best choice to read during a pandemic, but this one didn't land for me. Perhaps it was the use of modern literary fiction tropes--small college town, disenfranchised educators, marital turbulence and reckoning--but while the prose was engaging, and the prescient insight into pandemic impact (even the toilet paper shortage!) powered the book's mission, it felt too labored, like a MFA final project, to be the kind of book that it wants to be. I chalk all of these feelings up to my extraordinary poor choice of timing.
